Description: Large tree with sharp round spines on the bark. Even a large tree has green bark, it turns grey for old tree. Branches are horizontal to main trunk. Branches are very fragile and can fall off in a strong wind.Leaf has a long petiole.Digitately compound leaf. Leaflets are smaller than Bombax ceiba, margin is entire.Flowers are in Umbel type of clusterFlowers are white. Another variety is found with magenta red colour petals.Green colour, ellipsoidal pod that opens along the suture.Black, round deeds are embedded in a cotton cover inside the pod. Should not be planed in Indian subcontinent.
